Dr Roger Calvert: The Ups and Downs of Canals (A brief history)
Thursday 16 March 7.30pm Admission £3.00
Dr Roger Calvert will give an illustrated talk about the fascinating history of Britain's canals. He is a retired engineer, whose interest in canals began in 1948, when his father built a canal boat on which the family spent many happy holidays. Later Dr Calvert became interested in the history of engineering and technology, in particular the period of the industrial revolution, when the engineering profession came into existence. Coffee and tea are included in the admission price. This should be an interesting, informative and enjoyable evening.
